The new 23,000 square feet Fire Station for the City of North Port includes four apparatus bays, double deep, 11 bunks for staff, two lieutenant bunks, and a shared lieutenant office, one battalion chief office and adjoining bunk, kitchen (shared with the police), five single-stall restrooms with showers, a small conference room, report room, dayroom, exercise room (shared with the police), local tailpipe exhaust ventilation system, gear laundry/decon room, turnout gear room.
Construction of the building is load-bearing masonry walls and steel columns supporting pre-cast hollow core plank at the elevated floors and light gauge trusses at the roof. Foundations are expected to be shallow-spread concrete foundations supporting masonry walls.
