Perhaps one of the more challenging fields to work in regarding budgetary constraints and building requirements is the educational market. This includes several sub-markets that need to be taken into account during a full design project. Aspects of designing for K-12 schools involve the same considerations that need to be made for projects in the hospitality market. At the same time, higher education often shares attributes with mixed-use or multi-family markets, as in the cases of college dormitories and campus recreational buildings. Added to this are all the specifications and requirements unique to the educational market itself, such as public funding and special safety concerns.
Snell works within proposed school construction budgets to create buildings conducive to learning and growth for those within. While we can find cost-effective solutions to engineering problems, we never sacrifice quality or integrity. We understand that the design and structure of academic buildings play a significant role in productivity, and safety is – as ever – critical in how we approach any project.
